Harlequins Foundation raise over £25,000 through Rival Ride

Supporters, staff and players past and present completed the 126-mile trip to Coventry for the second edition of the rival ride between the 17th/18th May, raising funds for the Harlequins Foundation.

The 50-strong team, that included former Quins Olly Kohn, George Lowe, Paul Volley, Jim Evans and Mel Deane; and current stars Charlie Mulchrone, Mark Lambert, Luke Wallace, and Holly Myers, embarked on the long ride from the Twickenham Stoop to Ricoh Arena in Coventry and raised over £25,000 for the Harlequins Foundation.

Departing on Friday 17th May, the peloton cycled 101 miles in a day to Northamptonshire for an overnight stay, before completing the remaining 25 miles to the Ricoh Arena in time for Quins’ final Gallagher Premiership match of the season, against Wasps.

Funds raised from the ride will help the Harlequins Foundation deliver its mission to inspire, educate and equip individuals and communities at home and around the world to change their lives and fulfil their potential.

Head of the Foundation, Marc Leckie said: “We are incredibly grateful to all the participants who took part in the Rival Ride this year, especially those who have returned for the second year. The whole event was a real success, and although incredibly challenging the camaraderie and sense of achievement felt by everyone was evident throughout.

“We are thrilled with the momentum this annual event now has and are already thinking about next year’s ride – keep your eyes and ears peeled!”

Former Harlequins Second Row Olly Kohn added: ‘It was fantastic to be part of this challenge alongside old teammates, raising money for the Harlequins Foundation. It was a great experience’

Once the 2019/20 fixture list has been confirmed later this summer, the Club will announce the date and destination of next year’s Rival Ride.
