Gloucester Rugby has confirmed that EDF Energy, who have worked very closely with the club for several years, have agreed to an extended partnership with the club.

The two organisations have enjoyed a close relationship in recent times, and it’s terrific news that this is set to continue on a long-term basis.

The EDF Energy has proudly adorned the number patch on the back of the first team shirt for several seasons, while the organisation has also sponsored the Gloucester Rugby Wheelchair Team as well as the increasingly popular EDF Energy Cup Final which is competed for by the best young local talent in the country and which was won most recently by Sir Thomas Rich’s.

Gloucester Rugby’s Chief Commercial Officer, Adam Benson, said: “EDF have been a massively important partner of the Club for some years now, and their support is valued hugely.

“They’ve backed a number of initiatives here at Gloucester Rugby, and their willingness to commit on a long-term basis once again speaks volume of the work we’re doing here.

David Tomblin, finance director of EDF Energy’s Barnwood based Generation business added: “We are delighted to renew our sponsorship of Gloucester Rugby and the Wheelchair Rugby Team. As a company we believe that diversity and inclusion is incredibly important, so this sponsorship fits very well with our ambitions.”

“It has been a privilege for us to be involved with the team since its formation, and to be able to support its steady growth from an idea and a few players through to the team it is today – competing in the second tier of the national competition.

“Hopefully they will be inspired by the success of the first team at Gloucester Rugby last season and push on even further.”
