Bristol Bears Wheelchair Rugby team has received a huge boost thanks to sponsorship from charitable trust, The CiaO Foundation and law firm, Irwin Mitchell.

On an evening of celebration and presentation at Ashton Gate, as Bristol Bears hosted Sale Sharks, official programme sponsor, The CiaO Foundation presented grants to four players to fund chairs, as well as their sponsorship of the Bears’ adult wheelchair rugby programme.

Alongside this, official team sponsor, Irwin Mitchell presented a cheque for the development of competition pathways in the adult programme.

“The evening was more successful that we could have possibly imagined,” said programme manager, Kris Tavender.

“To stand back and see players that have been involved since the very first session three years ago, through to those that were about to depart for their first Invictus training camp, was a truly special moment.

“To be able to share that with commercial and charitable sponsors, who share our heart and passion for wheelchair rugby, was a truly beautiful moment.

“Whilst we were celebrating what had come before, this really was a night of new beginnings for all.

“We cannot stress enough the importance of this support from all that have supported us, including those who would prefer to remain anonymous. Truly inspiring.”
