Hull FC’s main club sponsors Atropa Pharmacy are doing their bit to support the local community with a free prescription delivery service.
Atropa are offering the service to anybody who cannot or is worried to leave their homes during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, delivering the prescriptions directly to their door.
Atropa Pharmacy is a growing online pharmacy that provides prescription delivery services to patients all across the UK. From their base in Hull, East Yorkshire, they also offer a range of private clinical services such as travel vaccinations and private blood tests.
Speaking to hullfc.com, Pharmcay Director Bryn Smales said: “We are delivering medication across the city, trying to make sure people have their medication and one less thing to worry about in times like this.
“We have three full-time drivers delivering prescriptions in the local region in an area covering around 60 miles.
“At Atropa Pharmacy we will stay open to provide medication to patients and we work hard to ensure everyone gets their items. This will carry on until the Government tells us not to.
“We can dispense prescriptions and deliver it to people without them needing to come out and queue. The app we have even has in instant messaging function so people don’t even need to ring us. The key message is staying at home does help the NHS and it will help us all get out of this a lot sooner.
“We’re asking people to follow the government guidelines and stay at home, some of my colleagues in other pharmacies have seen a weeks worth of prescription in a day with people rushing to get their medication, they’re obviously packing into the shop queuing for a long time, and this will eventually cause a strain on the supply chain.
“We can take the hassle and agro out of that by simply ticking a few boxes on our app and then patients are updated about their prescription in real time.”
Atropa are ensuring that both staff and customers are safe during the service, with Bryn adding: “We all used the hand sanitizer as we walk in anyway so that bits not new. But we’ve now given the drivers their own area down stairs to limit the amount of people in the dispensary to cater for more room.
“The keyboards, mice, phones, door handles are all dettolled first thing in the morning. Each member of staff has their temperature taken using an infrared thermometer as they come in to make sure there are no signs of a fever. The drivers all wear face masks and have dettol for the vans and hand sanitizer around with them.”
