Salford Red Devils Foundation and Foundation 92 are delighted to announce a partnership which shall see the launch of multiple brand-new programmes for people of all ages in Salford.
This unique partnership combines rugby and football to offer more diverse and engaging sports activity sessions, with the aim of having a positive impact on an even wider part of the local community.
Together, the two organisations will combine their expertise and a wealth of coaching experience to bring this offer to people in Salford, with a multitude of 12-month activity courses presented.
The first programme, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, will see the launch of two courses; an initiative to help 18-year-olds and older with their mental wellbeing based at Eccles Sixth Form College and a physical activity programme for 60-year-olds and upwards at Albert Park.
The second course will offer two free disability-inclusive sports activity sessions based in East Salford and Eccles every week, with five young people able to attend each event to try new sports, meet new friends and develop their skillsets.
Furthermore, each participant will also be provided with the opportunity to take part in accredited learning opportunities in various topics including leadership, teambuilding and communication skills.
Neil Blackburn, Director Salford Red Devils Foundation, said: “I am thrilled to be working in partnership with F92 on these fantastic programmes, which will bring great opportunities to the local community.
“It has been refreshing to see and hear how excited F92 are about providing services to local residents, who especially in these uncertain times need access to targeted local provision more than ever.
“Our partnership brings together Salford’s premier sporting clubs and allows us to achieve fantastic results helping the community bounce back from Covid 19.”
Foundation 92 is an independent Charity, formed by the Class of 92 to impact the lives of those in the community.
Head of Foundation 92, Tom Hutton said: “I am thrilled with the formation of this new, innovative and impactful partnership, and the benefits presented through the bringing together of two powerful forces, football and rugby.
“Through partnership working with Salford Red Devils Foundation, I believe both organisations are able to bring a wealth of experience and expertise together, which will help support both local residents and Salford as a whole to thrive.”
