Castleford Tigers have confirmed that their longest-serving club partner GMB Union have ended their partnership with the club, following the effects of the global pandemic and other factors surrounding COVID-19.
GMB Union has been a huge part of the Tigers growth off the field over the last two decades and the club would like to thank them for the support and financial commitment they have provided them throughout their time at the club.
This decision was made late in the day through no fault of GMB Union, in what was a treacherous year for planning in 2020. Rescheduled regional and national conferences due to the pandemic, meant that the news of their withdrawal reached us at the end of October and after all our 2020 replicas had been manufactured.
Head of Commercial Partnerships Craig Jeffels spoke about GMB Union and the support they have given the club over a long period of time.
“Firstly, I would like to thank GMB Union for their many years supporting Castleford Tigers both financially and as supporters of our club. The company have been visible in a variety of kit positions throughout the partnership, including principal kit partner for a number of years.
“Like many businesses in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic hit hard leaving marketing and sponsorships on the back burner and planning for 2021 impossible. Steve Jennings, who has been my point of contact at GMB since I arrived at the Tigers has been fantastic in helping us grow the partnership, and it will be with sadness that we won’t be working together or with GMB Union going forward. All our partners know that the door is always open at Castleford Tigers and hopefully one day in the not-so-distant future Castleford Tigers and GMB Union can pick up where we left off.”
“Once again from all at the Tigers, we would like to thank GMB Union for their long-standing support of our club, and wish them all the best for the future in business and in health.”
