Having recently been appointed to oversee a wide-ranging performance review of the Club, Eastwood has accepted Harlequins’ invite to join the Gallagher Premiership Champions’ Board.
Over the past decade, Eastwood has worked with some of the most elite teams and groups in the world, including Gareth Southgate’s England Football team, the British Olympic team, NATO and the South African Cricket Team.
Excited by the potential he sees at Harlequins, Eastwood said: “After spending just under a year delving deep into Harlequins’ history, its DNA, and what being part of the Harlequins family means, I passionately believe this Club can go from strength to strength. I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to join the Board.
“This is a club with a rich history and a clear identity. I am excited to see Harlequins’ progression as the Club continues to build, both on and off the pitch, upon a double title-winning campaign”.
Thrilled to formally welcome Eastwood into Harlequins, CEO Laurie Dalrymple said: “Owen’s experience with other high-performance sports teams has provided Harlequins with some extra perspective over the past six months as we took both English championship titles.
“Added to which, we pride ourselves on the rich diversity of Harlequins, both within the Club and within our community. Having someone with Owen’s cultural diversity, his exposure to other high performing environments and experience is an excellent fit for where we want to go. Owen has helped us re-discover what it is to have a sense of belonging at Harlequins, he’s been influential in reaffirming our identity as well as helping to highlight the areas to develop in our performance programme as we look to build upon our massively successful 2020/21 season as double champions and towards a long term sustainable model for repeated success on and off the field.
“In addition to the arrival of Tabai Matson and Simeon Barnes to our Men’s and Women’s coaching teams respectively and the arrival of some truly exceptional playing talent to both squads, we feel there is a notable ability to continue our growth in all areas as we look to build upon a fantastic season last year.”
